Comprehensive Academics Tutoring Service (CATS) is a recognized nonprofit organization providing services to children, youth, adult, and families since 2001. CATS’ has now expanded its services to older youth and veterans.

Our goal is to offer integrated programs, projects and resources in Education, Employment, Job Training, Housing, and Legal Services.

Our Story

In partnership with the community, Comprehensive Academics Tutoring Service, Inc. provides a holistic approach to helping children, youth, adults, families, and veterans through advocacy, outreach, and community involvement.
CATS program, projects and services include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Housing Workshops to assist families/veterans residing in Shelters to move from temporary housing into permanent housing
  • Youth Empowerment Program will provide youth with the information, tools, resources and the support they need to empower themselves
  • Affordable OSHA/Fall Prevention/CPR/Health and Safety Training Program (Daycare) to ensure individuals meet the standards and qualification for ensuring a safe and healthy environment and to reduce the risk of workplace hazards
  • Job/Vocational training services to develop and/or enhance skills and obtain specific credentials needed to meet the hiring requirements of industries /employers and participate in the workforce
  • Assist veteran in obtaining benefits and Pro Bono legal services to those facing denial of benefits
  • Advocacy services to ensure that clients are aware of rights and entitlements for which they are eligible
  • Engage and/or assess individuals potentially in need and provide information or linkages to community-based services
  • Back-to-School Supplies Giveaway/Back-to-Work Expo
  • Thanksgiving Harvest Basket Giveaway to families/veterans in need
  • Toy giveaway to those perhaps financially disadvantaged children
The target populations to be served are those who are residing in Shelters (homeless), NYCHA residents, at-risk children, and veterans.
