Comprehensive Academics Tutoring Service, Inc. specially designed services to help individuals develop and enhance their skills to obtain specific credentials needed to meet the hiring requirements of industries / employers; participate in the workforce, and provide a safe and healthy work environment by reducing the risk of workplace hazards.

First Step Job Training Program

As a reminder, First Step is recruiting for our March class – IN PERSON! The program will begin on March 13th and run through April 21st. Classes will take place Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, in our office at 129 Fulton Street, New York, NY 10038.

First Step is an HRA-approved, tuition-free, 6-week job training program that empowers homeless, formerly homeless, and/or low-income women through a holistic and empathetic approach. Through computer and data entry training, social service support, literacy building, career mentorship, and job-placement assistance, we aim to help women build their self-confidence and achieve their employment and educational goals. First Step is specifically catered towards women interested in entering a full-time career in the Human Services sector by building the skills and network required for these positions. Lunch and MetroCards will be provided daily.

If you know of any community members who may be interested, please have them call 212-776-2074 as soon as possible to sign up for an info session. Recruitment will end as soon as we fill up our class and will take place on a first come first serve basis. In order to qualify for the program, students must:

  • Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • Identify as female
  • Live in the five boroughs of New York City
  • Be 18 or over
  • Be able to commit to the 9:30 to 3:30 schedule
  • If applicable, have childcare in place
  • Have work authorization in the US
  • Have or be working towards a GED/HSD
  • Be interested in working in Human Services
